Well family I'm back! After living in isolation in North Carolina, (Ok its really not isolation if other people live with you, especially if they're your kids.) But we are back with a new appreciation of life and everything it has to offer. I'm seeing familiar people and places with new eyes, (If I don't remember your name its the new eyes!) I definitely missed all of my family and friends, its been an interesting journey these last couple of years. I've learned a lot about myself and my kids. ( I may have learned too much about them!)

We won't go!
Okay so Jaden Smith, soon to be fifteen wants to be emancipated from his parents, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Really Jaden? That is SO OLD we all wanted that! Who wants to live with their parents when they are 11 much less almost 15? Nobody! I bet if we took a pole we would find out that more than half of the adult population wanted out of their parents house when they were teenagers, if fact some of them are adults right NOW and want out of their parents houses. When I was younger and living in my parents house (the first time) I remember wanting to do something but my parents told me I couldn't. I decided right then and there I was going to run away! I packed a bag (I think it was mostly food) declared to my parents that I wanted out of this relationship with them and that I was leaving. They said it was nice knowing you Goodbye and I marched out of the door. Now at 12 you don't really have a lot of options I couldn't go to a friends house because their parents would be there. I went to the park for a while but that was boring by myself. I then decided to sneak back home to see what everyone was doing. And do you know what they were doing?..... Just being a family without ME! While I was out there in the cold (just go with it) hungry world, they were in the house with my siblings just as content as they wanted to be. So after spying on them, then sitting behind the garage for an hour I decided to give my family another chance, so I went on in the house.( Little did I know they were watching me from the windows, but I didn't find out about that for years! ) So No Jaden you can't just leave even if you think you want to, the rest of your friends will be home with their families and you'll just wind up going back home anyway every night for food and company.......

Pizza! Pizza!
I do my best to keep it healthy, I exercise, (somewhat) I eat right (most of the time, ok ok half of the time!) And I try to get plenty of rest (emphasis on TRY) I've given up red meat, pork and various other food items that are deemed unhealthy. Recently I was told that one of my sons needed to give up processed sugar, artificial flavoring and colorants, foods that are dairy based and foods that contain gluten. What's left huh? Bread and water? Oh no, can't have bread. Now I'm not one to lay down on a challenge so I go to my friendly neighborhood library and take out about 50 cookbooks on everything free food. I knew this was about to change all of our lives, so I had to get it right. Well I found a recipe for the one thing that my kids would never say no to: PIZZA! I ran to the store and brought everything I needed to make the best gluten, dairy free pizza ever! I raced home and put it all together it looked beautiful, the boys were so excited when I told them I had Made a special pizza for them! We all sat down and I cut the pizza giving everyone a healthy slice, we said our prayers and started eating.......it was disgusting! I tried not to let it show on my face, Will was like" Uh Mom, this doesn't taste like the pizza we usually have," Wes then said "This is nasty!" Its a good thing I have 49 other cookbooks, there has got to be a good pizza recipe in one of them! If anyone knows of a good Gluten free please let me know!

Open letter to the president
Dear President Barack Obama,
I just want to say that the Democratic Convention was awesome! The entertainment was on point with Mary J. Blige, Bruce Springsteen (Yeah America!)Among many others! And all of the speakers were great, Michelle, Bill and yourself included. But I couldn't help but to be a bit ticked because I had tickets and they were cancelled on us! Yes they had to move the convention to a smaller venue, because of a tornado/twister/end of the world storm coming. And yes there was a storm that night, and it poured, thunder and lighting but doggone it I wanted to go! I watched at home on T.V. (Weather was bad) and all I saw was bright happy faces, laughing, crying, sharing in the words that were being poured over them like honey. I watched with disgusting fascination what people were wearing in the audience (why did she wear that?)Or who they were with(really? Who let that person in?)But it didn't really make me feel any better because they were there and I was at home looking in. I say all of this to say,YOU have to win this for all of the people who couldn't make it there! We want to celebrate with you in person!
P.S. Or a new job with great benefits would be nice ;)

Jackson 4 or Snore!
Hey Pooka Family!
I just really have a poll question this week! I saw in the news today that the Michael Jackson's brothers (minus Randy, Hum?) are going on a reunion tour this summer. While we all loved the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson, I saw a short clip of them saying how much Michael's spirit is with them sounded a little desperate to me. I asked my mom would she go and see them and she said NO, They look tired.......and why are they all wearing Ray Charles shades? What do you think?

Who's the Boss?

For all of the youngest children in the family, you have to agree with me that you usually got away with more stuff than your older brothers and sisters. At the time you came around your parents were tired so they kinda knew if you did eat the dirt you weren't gonna die or if you didn't eat that balanced breakfast you'd be ok. All was good untill you did the one thing that your parents told you not to do OH BOY then all kinds of stuff broke out! My youngest Wesley turned 6 last week, we looked through the photo album of his pictures and ooh and aaahed over how cute he was and still is to this day. To know Wes is to love him, he is the ultimate entertainer- he sings, dances, raps, acts and just an all around charmer. Of course with him being the youngest I have not been as hard as him as I was/am on his older brother (sorry Will!) but I didn't think I would really need to correct him on anything much because he is just So Cute! Well! Welcome to the real world! Let me tell you how this boy just lost his mind! One day last week, he came downstairs ready for school with $15.00 in his hand. I asked him where did he think he was going with the money? Wes replied that he was going to school with it, where he was going to spend it at the school store. I told him No, you are not going to take that money to school, leave it home. Then I proceeded to put it on the counter and leave. Well obviously that was not good enough for Mr. Wesley, he decided that he was going to take the money to school anyway. As they are leaving for school Will sees that Wes has $ 5.00 in his hand. He says" Didn't mommy tell you not to take that to school." Wes replies "Oh yeah." and then fakes putting it back so his brother doesn't see him (Were you ever that sneaky?). Now we have two people that have told Wes not to take the money to school (I'll give him a little credit that he didn't take the $ 10.00 also). I come home and Wes is all love love to me. My mother, who is visiting us, said he came right home from school and got to work on his handwriting and math. He was so diligent, saying "I have to do my work for mommy". Uh huh. As I walk into the kitchen I notice the $10.00 bill but no $5.00 I asked my mother did she see a five? She said no. I asked Will and he started yelling at me, "I told Wes to put the money back!" I called Wes downstairs, "Where is the money?"....."I took it to school."......"After I told you not to?"....."I didn't know you didn't want me to take it." My mother had to put my eyes back in my head! " What!!!!!! Didn't I tell you not to take the money!", I said to him and of course he replies...Yes (he starts crying here, because he can see on my face this is not going to end well for him. " Go upstairs right now!" I proceeded to let him know who the boss was, I don't think I'll be having any problems out of Mr. Wes for a long time. P.S. and if you talk to him just ask him who the boss is!

My New Baby!
Hi Pooka Family!! Well, as you know, I have two boys and people would always ask me if I was going to have a girl. I would just smile and say "No, no more kids for me!" I was happy with the way my life was going, my youngest was about to start kindergarten and I was ready to get back a little freedom. That was the way I felt until I fell in love, after that nothing has been the same! One saturday my kids and I went to Petco, to check out the birds and fish. This is something that we usually do so it was no biggie. Little did I know they were having adoption day and there were about 50 puppies and 30 kittens waiting to be adopted! Of course my kids dived right in, "Oh we want this one, no this one" there were so many choices! Me, being the parent, the voice of reason states, "You can look but we are not bringing anybody home with us!" Of course my kids didn't even pay attention to me as they went around looking for the perfect pup. Then they found her, a buff colored lab mix named Gracie. "Can we keep her mom?" They asked me with big round eyes. Of course I started spouting off all the reasons we couldn't......"Carpet throughout our house, no time, too much money, who's gonna take care of her? Not me!" As I'm standing there debating with them, one of the workers walks up and starts talking about how Gracie would be such a great dog for two growing boys. I look at her like yeah whatever lady! She then says they are not a no kill facility (which means if you don't get picked to go home with soneone, your pretty much fried!) So now I'm feeling guilty, but I don't let that totally stop me, "We don't have the money right now", I tell the children. Just then a couple steps up and they offer to give me a cage that they have, for free! Great! Then the adoption agency throws in a free bag of dog food, with treats! Gracie has had all of her shots and she's spayed! Alright give me the damn dog I say I guess it was just meant to be. I already have a million Gracie, stories to tell, for next time, so stay tuned....

M.I.A.

Ladies I would just like to shed a little light on something, if you decide to work out and you work out hard, make sure you have enough money for surgery because after you lose the weight your gonna need it! I've been working out pretty steady for about the last two years, I didn't really notice any change in my body or my clothes. My 8's still fit and my legs didn't look any different then when I started but then about 3 months ago I started running and woosh! it was all gone! Yes I lost my boobies! They just ran off my body! I had also dropped two sizes (yep I'm a 6 now) and while that is all fine and well I want my boobies back! For me its almost like I lost an arm or a leg, I had to go out and buy new clothes and bras (No I'm not telling the size!) and while some people would say,"Oh thats still plenty big", its not to me. They were very much a part of me and now I feel lost without them. Yes I tried the push-ups,the push together, the pads, even tieing them together with a string but to no avail! So you will not find me running outside anymore or taking extra cardio classes, nope! I'll be at home on the couch eating icecream waiting for them to come back! LOL!

The Little Things

My birthday was this past monday and I have to say that my boys are really growing up! They came into my room in the morning with shouts of Happy Birthday as they threw themselves on me. They then handed me toys from their room that they had "bought" or fme. I, of course, thanked them and kissed them and told them how much I loved them and their gifts. It took me back to when I was younger and I didn't have anything to give my parents but my love and the wish to make their birthday as great as they made mine! Drawing a picture, singing a song, baking a cake for them, were all things I hoped they enjoyed. Parent's aren't looking for presents they are looking for your love. So the next birthday, holiday or any day that you can, show someone how much you care about them by making them something from the heart. Those presents and your presence in their lives are priceless! Happy Mothers Day (which is everyday) to all women who have ever helped a child in anyway! Be it a teacher, auntie, school bus driver, doctor, lunch aid, secretary, neighbor, you name it, Thank you!

Wagon Trail
Okay this was funny to me and I had to share it! Recently I started working part-time for a national retailer, the company seeing my natural enthusiasm placed me in a customer service position. So today I'm at work and a woman called saying that she couldn't walk and that she would need the "wagon". The "wagon" is a motorized cart that a person can ride in comfortably while shopping. Of course I was asked to go and retrieve the woman by riding in the cart to her car. Okay so I'm having fun zipping through the store (it only goes about 2mph) and out into the parking lot. I find the woman in her car and proceed to help her into the wagon and into the store. She shops and when shes ready to leave I have to go with her to get the wagon back. I go back with her to her car and it starts to rain, so of course in my head I'm like " Come on lady!" while she keeps moving slowly getting off of the wagon. I jump back into the wagon just as the skies open up and a tsunami hits. Wind, rain and I'm hunched over trying to make the wagon go faster which of course it can't! As I round the corner going straight for the door, I hear a horn beeping and its the woman I just left almost running me over! She may not of been able to walk, but she doggone it was able to put the pedal to the medal! I was able to maneuver out of the way (it was a crazy slow motion turn)and she rolls down the window to ask me if I'm okay. AM I OK? REALLY? Nah Lady! This may not be the job for me.....

My Shero!
I've always liked Vivica Fox. She always played the roles I would have if I had taken my acting career seriously,(LOL) ya know being Will Smith's girlfriend in Independence Day, a femme fatale in Kill Bill volume 1 or the sassy younger sister in Soul Food. She's been in numerous movies, television shows and specials. She always seems to play the sister who is tough, don't take no stuff and smart as a whip. A person who knows how to play the game and get others to play with her. ( Which is how I imagine her to be in real life!) Now she is about to become a married woman again! That's right! Ms. V who is 46 is marrying a 27 year old club promoter. He gave her an eight-carat ring. (Didn't know promoters were balling like that!) Vivica has brought in her new year the way a lot of women want too; lots of money and a permanent honey! Go Vivica ! I see your work, I gotta make me a couple of Mil first though....Yo everybody buy some Pooka!

Dragon Universe!!!!

Ok so everyone knows that I have two boys and I'm always on the look out for something for them to do. A friend of mine suggested joining MommyParties which I did and I was selected to host a Dragon Universe Party!!!! Soon after a large box arrived at my house and I was amazed with the products! I had to hide them from my sons because I knew if they saw them before the party, they would want to play with them right then and there! We live in North Carolina now but we actually traveled with them to New Jersey, where they and us were warmly received. We made fire-breathing bagel melts and enjoyed dragon Scales with Dragon Punch, while watching the Dragon Universe Video. Then it was time to create! Most of the boys picked the Dragons, while a few made the Alliance military pods. They were fairly easy to put together, nobody asked an adult for help! (which is really big!) Then they battled and ran around for the rest of the night! A good time was had by all!

Happy Days are here Again!!!

Well the summer is over, the air has turned crisp, the kids are back in school and now its time to get back on my second job again. Class mother! Yes its time to sell, sell, sell, cookies, candy, wrapping paper and everything else that the P.T.A. is pushing. Its time for class pictures, making lunch (I don't like lunch meat!) and lots of HOMEWORK!!!!! Are you smarter than a third grader? Yeah you think you are? Well try doing math (the new crazy math), spelling, writing, and reading every night! I am doing homework every night for at least three hours! Screaming every morning for everyone to get up, rushing around getting kids dressed, fed, packed up and on the bus with me running behind it because Will forgot his glasses. Fighting with Wes because he doesn't want to go to school today (this of course is everyday). Racing to drop Wes and the neighbor's kid off to school and this is all before 9am! Then I get to rest, (go to work)only to start the process all over again, picking kids up, running to the bus stop, making dinner, doing homework, giving people baths, reading stories, putting them to bed, putting them back to bed when they get out again. Where did the summer go, when all I had to do was wake them up and put shorts and a t-shirt on them?

Road Trip! Part 2!!

When we were in college Dawn and I became Omega Essences/Sweethearts/Pearls for the mighty mighty Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. This happened our freshman year (Party all the Time, Eddie Murphy) and needless to say there are a lot of stories from college that can't be printed here or anywhere else! Being the beautiful, sophisticated (single) women we are now,(I'm on my own, Pattie LaBelle) we decided to make the trip to the conclave. We are still friends with the brothers we helped cross the burning sands and our fellow Que-E sisters,(That's what friends are for, Dionne Warwick and friends) so we were excited to see everyone. I needed to make the most of my vacation away from my children, so we decided to stop off and see another friend in D.C. (Shout out to Terri!) We went out to dinner on U street the new happening spot in chocolate city. After staying up most of the night (talking and laughing) we hit the road again headed for North-Kack-a-Lack! Our girlfriend Vera came down with her husband who is a Que (Hey Juan, Love ya!) and we were ready to move! We went to a concert friday night (8th row center stage!) and saw EnVogue, ( Never gonna get it!) they were AWESOME!!!! Up next was Brian McKnight(start back with one) who was really good and he brought out his sons who sang and played the guitar with him! Love it! Rounding out the show was Frankie Beverly and Maze! (Before I let go!) We stood the whole time they played, Amazing!!!! The next day was like a family reunion, seeing brothers and sisters some of whom we haven't seen in years! We talked and laughed and hung out until the morning light. I have to say all of the brothers the ones we knew and the ones we had just met all were true gentlemen! We love you Omega Psi Phi!!! We will see you next year at the 100th Centennial!

Road Trip!

Ah....those lazy hazy summer days....Do you remember when your parents used to take you on road trips? How excited you would get to jump into the car and get away from it all? (like YOU really had stress!) Every summer my parents would pack me and my brothers up and head to North Carolina to visit my grandma. (Dad's mom). I felt like we were gone ALL summer, my parents would stay with us for a couple of days then be gone! I loved the little town my dad grew up in (Ayden, next to Greenville) I thought I was big stuff coming from New Jersey (yah know a suburb of New York) all of my cousins were in awe of me as I spoke of The City and all the places I had seen. So now its my turn to take my kids on their summer vacation which would be back to Jersey! I wanted my kids to experience a good old fashioned road trip full of singing, finding license plates from different states, and really getting to know each other. We were excited to wake up in the middle of the night and jump in the car and ride! We woke up, jumped in the car and it didn't start! What!!!!! This was not the way to start our vacation. While we were cleaning the car out the day before, we left a light on which killed the battery. So now we are sitting in the car at four o'clock in the morning wondering what to do." How come we aren't driving?" " The battery is dead." " I'm hungry." " How did it die?"" We left something on."I then called Triple A which took two and a half hours to get to my house. " I couldn't find it." One word GPS. Triple A gets us going and off we go! Well I can see why riding in the car for eight or more hours my parents were ready to turn right around and go back home without us! I packed all of our favorite snacks, drinks, books and games and it still wasn't enough to keep them from annoying me! "Are we there yet?" "Why are you awake, go back to sleep!" " I'm hungry." " Its four o'clock in the morning, you don't usually eat at this time and your not now!""Mom can you read this to me?" " I'm driving."" What about this?" Okay this is a joke right? "Mommy has to pay attention to the car and drive." " Oh Okay." I don't know how my parents didn't run the car off the road with us in it, or drug us to sleep because I know we were just as bad. Well we finally made it to New Jersey, I stayed for a couple and days then me and Auntie Dawn were out! We had a date with some Ques, The Omega Psi Phi Conclave was being held in Raleigh N.C. and we were going to have some fun!

Anaconda!!!!!

Well if you have been following my blogs you know by now my family has moved to Cary, North Carolina. For those of you who have never been or haven't been in the last ten years North Carolina is definitely not the North Carolina you used to visit or hear about. We live in a wonderful community where everyone is from somewhere else, (New Jersey, New York Idaho, yeah Idaho) and the people are very friendly. We have a club house with three pools, a full size indoor basketball court, a playground, a gym and numerous activities. I love it! My kids love it! Even though we have an ongoing battle against bugs coming into our house we are pretty pampered. Until HE slidered across our path! Now I'm the kind of girl who is always prepared for action, I don't know if its because of my love for action movies (Aliens, Terminator, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,Jurassic Park,Star Wars,The Matrix, Predator, Kill Bill,Independence Day the list goes on and on!) I always imagine myself in the starring role, saving mankind. I even have a special wardrobe: Jeans, Sneakers, Hoddie, Cap and leather jacket. This ensemble is good for jumping from planes, fighting against aliens, surviving a shipwreck etc. Food: I will always carry some kind of food and bottled water with me. (I have other things in a special getaway bag) So whenever you see me dressed and carrying a duffle bag I must be chasing some action. One day I was walking home from the pool with my son Will and my neighbor Tanya and her daughter. We decided to walk back home by the lake path. Now this is a beautiful lake that connects two properties it doesn't go around the lake just across it.with benches for you to sit and look at the water while your thinking about your life. Will is on his bike and he's ahead of us as we walk around a little curve in the path immediately we see it. SNAKE It was lying there in the middle of the path with its head up, like a little statue. It was facing in the direction of my son, so my guess was that he zoomed past it (of course he didn't see it) and it was startled. Will started to ride back towards us and I shouted at him not to,because the snake was between us and him. It was long and green and we had no idea what kind of snake it was.I immediately went into action mode. Okay now what did Jennifer Lopez do in Anaconda to kill the snake? Samuel L Jackson had a gun on Snakes on a Plane, (No gun)so that's out. We didn't think that we could probably just walk around the snake and he would have been alright with that. I didn't want Will to ride his bike back down the path, what if the snake bit him on his leg and it was poisonous and I had to suck the poison out of his leg, how fast is this snake? should I run zig zag or straight when it comes to attack me? A million thoughts ran through my head. I don't have jeans or sneakers on, he can bite my toes and my legs, I can't even kick him! What do I do? I have to save my baby and my neighbors! I picked up a rock and threw it at the snake......I wasn't trying to hit him just make him move. Will starts yelling at me," Ma why are you trying to hurt the snake he didn't do anything to you! (Of course he didn't realize I was trying to save his life) Well the snake didn't move, I threw another one, nope, another one, nada. My neighbor said maybe its dead, Nah I said I think he knows that they are only rocks and can't really hurt him.(At this point I'm trying to hit him but I'm a lefty with a bad arm)So now I'm out of rocks and the snake is still standing there, what could I possibly do? Tanya hands me a water bottle, try water she says, I take the top off and inch up closer to the snake and throw some water on him, he flinches, I got him now! I throw the rest of the water on him.Give me more water I cry! The snake finally thinking its raining on him turns and slinks back into the grass. We run past the spot with me still throwing water at the grass. Of course we cracked up about it afterwards, two grown women running from a little green garden snake, but I live by the Boy Scout Code: Always be prepared. This is a picture of the snake we battled with.
WHATEVER, IT WAS A LOT BIGGER IN PERSON!!!

Good Times!!

Hey Family, this past weekend I was able to go away, Yes (without the kids, thank you mommy!) to Atlanta! Now I haven't been to Atlanta in years so it was a real treat to hang out with family there. It was my friend Teri's birthday a couple of days after mine and we planned to party like its 1999! (because in 1999 we were a little younger!)
First things first when you go somewhere you haven't been in a long time ask questions. I walked about 10 miles to get to bagagge claim at the airport, only to be told when I was a few feet away. "Oh you could have taken the tram, it would have gotten you there in 5 minutes. Okay. Teri picked me up and explained to me that no one lives IN Atlanta everyone stays in the suburbs Around Atlanta. Oh. We stayed with Teri's grandmother who is 92 years young! Hollar! She is sassy and hip not your average grandma at 92, she still drives, and gets her nails done! Well the weekend consisted of a lot of eating, drinking and hanging out: Atlantic Station, The Hawks game (NOT the game itself, the best part was seeing people I used to work with) and dancing until dawn. Needless to say I was tired when I got back, but there is no rest for the weary! My kids tackled me down but it was worth it! Shout out to my people from Jersey, Hillary, Kyle and Will it was great seeing all of you and I'll be back!

Happy Trails to you!

Pooka Family, after working hard for many years my mom is retiring! My mother has been in the banking industry for as Iong or longer than I have been alive! My mother is all about the numbers baby, she can count the money in your piggy bank just by looking at it. She knew how much change she should get before the cashier gave it to her and they better not be wrong either way because she would let them know. My mom is superbad when it comes to math, everybody was always coming to her when they needed help with anything dealing with money or numbers. But alas we all have our achilles heel, one of her hardest jobs was trying to get her kids to learn it! You would think that one of us would be born with her amazing ability to count in our heads?..... Not. But that doesn't stop my mom from giving up hope though, even to this day. I talk to my mother about helping Will with his homework, and she would say, "Oh your helping Will with his math? " Yes mom,...... (I just use a calculator now, WHATEVER!)
One of my favorite memories was when I was in the fourth grade and we had a career day at school. I asked my mom to come. (No disrespect to you Dad, but mom's job sounded cooler.) I sat there proudly as my mom, looking and sounding professional talked about working in a bank. There were lots of questions afterwards and my mothers time was up, but I hadn't been able to ask my own question. "Mom,mom what is money made of?" I blurted out. Mom said," I'll tell you at home." Well my mother never did tell me, I don't know if I forgot or she did! (I now know, I goggled it). She has always been right there when her family or her job needed her, so we salute you mom, thank you for loving us, taking care of us and showing us that hard work and determination do pay off! We love you!
(P.S.) I think the math gene skipped a generation, all of the grandkids are better at math than we were!

Grandmas Suggestion....

Hey Pooka Family!
I had a feeling that one day one or both of my children would need glasses. Having worn glasses since fourth grade myself and having parents that both wear glasses pretty much guaranteed that the bad eye genes would pass on. So when William started sitting on top of the T.V. to see what was on, I pretty much knew who was next in line. We went to our friendly neighborhood eye doctor who confirmed that Will needed glasses and we picked out a nice pair that made him look even more handsome and studious. We had a long discussion about the glasses how to take care of them, the importance of them blah blah blah... Well if I had remembered what wearing glasses was like for me in elementary school I would have gotten two coke bottles and made him a pair! At first he did great,he wore them when he should reading, doing homework and everything was fine. Then of course the day came when he didn't bring them home. I didn't worry too much, I just reminded him that he needed to remember them and bring them home. Well he remembered the next day but next week they were MIA again. "Where are your glasses?" "Huh mom?"( Me trying not to lose my temper") Your glasses where are they?" " Oh I don't know." "You don't know?" (Me losing my temper)" I think their in my backpack."
"Well get them!" " Okay" " Mom, they aren't there." After another long discussion about responsibility, the glasses were brought home without incident. Then they broke. " What happened?" (Me again trying not to lose my temper) "I don't know I picked them up and they just fell apart."..............................."They just fell apart" (Me with my right arm holding tightly to my left so I don't just knock him over)" Yeah" "Okay another lecture on how he has to be careful with the glasses they are delicate. I was able to send the glasses back to the Drs. office and have the frame replaced because they were still under warranty. Great! Glasses come back and less that two weeks later Will comes home with an arm missing. " What happened to your glasses." (At this point I'm yelling all control gone.") "I was sitting on the bus and it hit a big bump and my glasses broke." " What!!!!" " I was sitting on the bus, I heard you!" I called my mom who is my go to person when something parenting wise goes wrong. I explained the story to her, and she said "Beat him".(Oh No Celie!)" What!!! " He has to understand that he can't just break his glasses and its okay, You got plenty of beatings. " I guess they beat me in my head because I don't remember ever losing my glasses. Well I couldn't I should have but I didn't. I told him, " You better find that arm and bring it home or I'm going to beat you." (IT WAS GRANDMA'S SUGGESTION).
Well the next day Will comes home and tells me that he found the arm to his glasses. I'm like "Great!! I can fix them myself and we haven't missed a beat! He looks through his backpack and then he says: " Its not in there." I then took my mothers suggestion. Needless to say on Monday Will brought the arm to his glasses home, I can't fix them because of the way they broke so I have to buy him a new pair. Morale of the story: Take Grandma's suggestion the first time!
