Motorcyle Momma!

Greetings Pooka Family! Hope everyone is having a great summer. I don’t really have any plans to go away right now so decided to just have fun with mini adventures. Staycations, that allow me to be outdoors while enjoying the weather. Experiences that are not to far from home that still provide a good time. While in this frame of mind I decided it was time for me to take my very first motorcycle ride! Thats right…just call me Motorcycle Mama Lynn!! Now my husband is a true motorcycle man from before our marriage. He recently purchased a beautiful new bike and was anxious for me to ride with him. I made excuses for as long as I could family lol! I knew it was my wifely duty to ride off into the sunset with my husband. One beautiful Saturday morning we both decided it was time. I put on my jeans, and sweat socks and boots (not those high fashion boots…don’t you have anything else said the husband!) Well I admit that it was a little warm but I must toughen up if I want to be a true rider. I was concerned that the helmet would not fit over my new afro but it did. Wait a minute, I feel a little warm in this helmet, there is not much air in here, I DON'T THINK I CAN BREATH!! (Just lift up the shield Donna to let air in said the husband!) Oh…. that is better. Ok, okI put on my bad to the bone jean jacket and walk toward the bike. What if I fall off the bike, what if I need to stop to go to the bathroom, what if this helmet will not come off over my afro!! I change my mind. I DON'T THINK I CAN DO THIS! (Yes you can says the husband. Get on the bike!) Ok.. I am on. This is great but we are standing still. I give the husband some rules. If I knock on his helmet that is a sign I am experiencing danger and he must stop. (can we go now says the husband!) OK...off we go!!!!!!!!!!! Knock, knock, knock….do you see that stop sign I scream! Knock, knock, knock we are approaching a red light! Knock, knock, knock there are no mirrors so I can help you drive! Knock, knock, knock I think my afro is getting bigger under this helmet. (Donna please stop knocking on my helmet and just sit back and enjoy the ride says the husband!!) Oh ok, I can do that. Hey, this is not bad. We are approaching the highway but I am calm people. Ok..not bad it is smooth sailing. Family, THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!!! I think that I was actually destined to be a motorcycle mama my whole life and didn't know it. I have missed out on so much but it is never too late. We ride to our family bbq and stop off for Ritas ice before we head home. What a perfect summer adventure!!! Family, this motorcycle stuff is really no big deal…once you get the hang of it. So look out for me on the open road this summer. I will be the one zooming by with the pink motorcycle helmet! Thats right…Motorcycle Mama Lynn!!

Taiye's 1st Day

Hey Pooka Family! This is Taiye's first week at Day Care.Yay! We were so excited about sending her to school (as we call it) so she can socialize with other children while giving me a chance to do some household chores without her reaching up for my boobs! My husband and I were very excited when we finally decided on which day care we would send her to. It was a long process of research, interviewing different providers, making sure they were curriculum-based and getting us mentally prepared to send our daughter into someone else's care for 6-8 hours a day. Since my return to work in March, Taiye has been home with a babysitter/nanny and me. I am very fortunate to be able to work from home so I'm right upstairs while she's downstairs playing, laughing and singing. But now I'm home.by myself..in this quiet house without the sounds of my daughter downstairs...ugh!!!!! I MISS HER SOOOO MUCH!!!! I can't believe how much I was looking forward to this day and now that it's here, I can't focus on anything except what time I will go and pick Taiye up today! The things we take for granted. Needless to say, she is adjusting much better than I am. When I went to pick her up the first day I was sooo anxious! I went into the play yard and her "teacher" said to me, "oh no Mommy, you can't pick her up now; we are having too much fun! It's only 3:00, what are you doing here so early?" Humf.I came to get my baby! Taiye is up on the slide coming down. She gets to the bottom and I yell, "Taiyeeeee! Hi Taiye!" Taiye looks up at me and waves...and then she goes right back to playing! What just happened? Where's my; Mommy, I missed you!

I am so happy that she is adjusting well to her new environment, as for me, I start therapy next week to help me deal with my separation anxiety. :(

Trash Talk!

Okay Pooka family! One of my many pet peeves is TRASH!! I can chase people down for throwing trash on the ground! I just don’t understand that mentality! How could you just throw garbage on the ground! Let me tell you about some of the things I’ve seen lately!!! I was at a light and there was a car parked on the street in front of me, I’m sitting there waiting and out of the drivers side window comes an empty bag of McDonalds!! He threw it right on the ground! I was devastated and he knew it when I drove by (really fast) and let him have it with a pumping fist! Then,
just last week, again I’m at a light and see a young boy about 7 kicking a box, not a small box, a box about 14 x 14 filled with papers. He’s kicking it all over the side walk leaving a trail of trash. Then he kicks it and says, “Ma, kick it back!”. Did he just say “Ma!” well when I turned around his mother was there and I was waiting for her to black out on him and you know what she did, SHE KICKED IT BACK!!! Where AM I??? AM I IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE!!!
We have got to do better! We have to teach our children(and moms!) to respect our environment and communities! I plan on getting a mask sort of like the Lone Ranger and becoming the Trash Bandit, so before you think about throwing it down, you better make sure I’m not lurking around that tree, LOL!! (Def. need the mask so no one beats me down, hahahahha)
